I am in the process of a bathroom renovation and this appears to be exactly what I was looking for in my tub/shower area where new tile is going in. If I understand correctly, you notch the tile where the shelf is to be installed, then the shelf is installed after the grouting process? What is the recommended for adhesive? Was also wondering, since the shelf is clear, can you see the thinset through the glass?
